Powerful, intelligent and intensely focused, The Art of Indifference captures the commanding presence of a bird of prey in an intimate contemporary portrait. Painted in oils with expressive brushwork and richly layered colour, this original artwork celebrates the beauty, strength and quiet confidence of one of nature’s most remarkable hunters.

Created as part of my 100 Days, 100 Paintings Challenge, this painting continues my exploration of expressive mark making while remaining true to my passion for wildlife. Every feather is suggested through energetic, painterly strokes rather than photographic detail, allowing colour, texture and movement to convey the bird’s character.

The striking amber eye immediately draws the viewer in, creating a powerful connection that contrasts beautifully with the cool turquoise and deep blue background. Rich greens, warm ochres and subtle earth tones combine to create a contemporary wildlife painting that is both vibrant and sophisticated.
