Yoga and Pilates Classes

Welcome to the home of Yoga Shakti School and the visionary art of Tandy Pengelly

Weekly Yoga and Pilates Classes:

The weekly yoga classes are held in my Yoga Studio in Villefagnan. I offer four different yoga classes to suit everybody's needs.

The classes are based on either, Gentle Flow Yoga,  Healing Restorative Yoga, which works on releasing deeper tension in the connective tissue, Dynamic Vinyasa, or a strengthening class combining fitness principles of strength training and core strength from Pilates.

The Vinyasa Flow and the Gentle Flow aim to give you a full-body workout to improve flexibility, and strength and release blockages in the body. And the Healing Restorative classes, or Somatic Flow, are aimed much more at releasing deep tension in the body and realigning our natural range of movement. Whichever class you attend, each posture will be guided in a relaxed, informative way, helping you re-connect the mind, body and spirit and bring your awareness back into the body.

But we also focus on the alignment of the pose, not to create the ‘perfect’ posture, but to find the perfect posture for you at this moment, at the place you are today…….with any tightness, stiffness, chronic injuries and restrictions. This allows me to work with you from the foundation up, help you build strength, and flexibility and, relieve chronic tightness and restrictions.

I have also recently introduced a new strengthening Pilates class on Saturday mornings to work on maintaining and improving muscle density and core strength. This is particularly important to ensure longevity, bone density, and hormonal balance.

Villefagnan Yoga Classes

11 am Tuesday: Gentle Flowing Yoga:

This class is a gentle yoga class that is nourishing for both the mind and body. It is suitable for beginners and people with low flexibility or tightness. But it is also ideal for experienced practitioners who want to take a slower pace in their yoga practice. It is a gentle flow class which aims to strengthen and increase flexibility slowly. We concentrate on building core strength to help protect and heal the body, and also to help the body return to its natural range of movement. There is a large emphasis on the freedom of the breath in the body as we link each movement with the gentle flowing postures.

This class requires a certain level of fitness and is not suited for people with injuries.

The class lasts 60 minutes and includes, yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation.

2pm Tuesday: Gentle Healing Somatic Flow Yoga

Somatic Flow Yoga is a gentle, restorative movement and yoga practice designed to nourish and relax both body and mind while gradually improving strength, mobility, balance and flexibility. Through mindful movement, targeted breathwork and refined proprioceptive awareness, the practice helps uncover physical blind spots, develop greater motor control and encourage a deeper connection to the body’s natural intelligence.

With a strong emphasis on the freedom of the breath within the body, the class explores how conscious breathing can help release built-up tension, support relaxation and create greater ease in movement. The approach is slow, supportive and accessible, making it suitable for everyone, including those with tightness, low flexibility, injuries or those recovering mobility after surgery or physical limitation.

Each 60-minute class weaves together gentle yoga postures, strengthening movement, stretching, calming breath practices and meditation to support physical wellbeing, nervous system regulation and embodied awareness.

Thursday Yoga Classes: Villefagnan

10.30 am: Dynamic Vinyasa Yoga

This class is a dynamic class designed for people with a good level of fitness, and injury free. We concentrate on building core strength to help protect and strengthen the body, and enhance flexibility. It is faster paced, therefore enabling us to also work aerobically as well.

Vinyasa yoga is a fast paced aerobic based yoga, that works not just your muscles but also your heart and lungs. We work through sequences of flowing postures, at times holding them for a few rounds of breath. We also incorporate breathing techniques referred to as Pranayama, to enhance our connection to our breath.

Vinyasa Yoga is described as a 'Moving Meditation', as we always work in harmony with the breath.

This is a 90 minute class.

Students must work within their own individual capabilities and recognise their own limits and boundaries.
